The Political Economy of the World-System (PEWS) Section of the American Sociological Association is organizing a conference on the legacies of Immanuel Wallerstein. We had hope to hold it in San Francisco after the following the American Sociological Association conference, but that conference has been canceled.

We now are scheduling the Immanuel Wallerstein Legacies conference to be held in Downtown Chicago on August 6, 2021, the day before the beginning of the ASA Meetings.

The conference will include celebrations of, and reflections on, Immanuel’s theoretical perspective, his political activism, his mentoring and teaching, his institution-building and scholarship that is inspired by, and extending, his ideas.

The PEWS section conference organizing committee is Chris Chase-Dunn (chair), Kelly Austin, Zeinab Shuker, Bill Winders and Beverly Silver.
