The Political Economy of the World-System (PEWS) Section of the American Sociological Association is organizing a conference on the legacies of Immanuel Wallerstein will be held the last evening and day following the American Sociological Association conference in San Francisco. Other ASA sections will be invited to co-sponsor the conference.

The PEWS section conference organizing committee is Chris Chase-Dunn (chair), Kelly Austin, Zeinab Shuker, Bill Winders and Beverly Silver.

The conference will include celebrations of, and reflections on, Immanuel’s theoretical perspective, his political activism, his mentoring and teaching, his institution-building and scholarship that is inspired by, and extending, his ideas.

Dates: Evening of Tuesday, August 11 and day of Wednesday, August 12, 2020.

Venue:  California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), 1453 Mission St, San Francisco, CA 94103 https://www.ciis.edu/  Walking distance from the Hilton.

Scholars, social scientists and progressive activists from the Bay Area are invited.
