James Anderson


James Anderson is an independent scholar and freelancer from Illinois who is now based in Riverside, California. His solo and co-authored scholarly work has been featured in the International Review of Information Ethics, Critical Studies in Media Communication, Latin American Perspectives, Media and Communication, The Journal of School & Society, Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, Perspectives on Anarchist Theory, and Eidos. A Journal for Philosophy of Culture. He's freelanced for outlets including Toward Freedom, Truthout, In These Times, The Partially Examined Life, the O.C. Register's Best of Orange County Magazine, Redlands Magazine, Protean Magazine, Exploits Magazine, The New Territory Magazine, Alma, Parents.com, Futurism, Shadowproof and Strikewave. Since the fall of 2021, he's covered men's health and other topics for Giddy, the largest sexual health platform on the web. He's been active in several labor unions, including GA United, the California Faculty Association, UPTE-CWA 9119, the UC-AFT Riverside Chapter (formerly UC-AFT Local 1966) and most recently the Industrial Workers of the World Freelance Journalists Union (IWW FJU). From August 2019 through August 2021, James and Dr. Eli Kramer co-hosted The New American Baccalaureate Project Podcast, a show featuring in-depth interviews with academics and others with a connection to higher education.
